The Blue Jays could looking into blockbuster trade with the Red Sox involving Vladimir Guerrero Jr and Triston Cacas
The Blue Jays ideally want to close a deal with Guerrero and keep him in Toronto but if they cannot agree on a number, they might need to look at trading him which is where the Red Sox come in.
According to MLB reporter Hannah Filippo, The Blue Jays could look at trading Guerrero to Boston in exchange for first baseman Triston Cacas and some prospects.
On Sunday, Hannah Filippo of FanSided proposed a trade in which the Boston Red Sox would acquire Guerrero and quickly give him the long-term extension he wants, pacifying their own angry fan base. In exchange, the Blue Jays would get their hands on Boston's own slugging first baseman, Triston Casas. -Roberts
While Cacas is not Guerrero, the Blue Jays would be getting a young stud in the trade as Cacas had a great 2024 season, in only 63 games last season, he hit 13 homeruns and 32 RBIs with a .337 on base percentage.
There's no replacing Guerrero in Toronto, but could Casas quietly give the Blue Jays 95% of his production? He's got a 125 career OPS+ before his 25th birthday, and the term "light tower power" was coined to describe hitters exactly like him. -Roberts
Fans will surely be upset with Ross Atkins if he cannot figure out a way to get a deal done with Guerrero to keep him in Toronto for the rest of his career but the way things are going, it seems unlikely.
Atkins has basically over played his hand when it comes to Guerrero and is now in a tough spot where he will likely have to overpay if he really wants to keep him.
