A major controversy that has flooded the media, Lopez went berserk after being ejected, but his comments after the game were just as severe. He seems to also have doubled down on who he is and what he said.
Reporters began to interview Lpez, who had some insane things to say about the Mets and his place on the team.
,
"No. I don't regret it. I think I've been on the worst team in probably the whole f***ing MLB. Whatever happens, happens, so whatever they want do. I'll be here tomorrow if they want me. I'm going to keep doing this thing. I'm healthy. I'm ready to come back tomorrow if they want me to be here."
Mets management stated that this type of behavior out of a player will never be tolerated, and a message had to be sent.
«We have standards here," Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said before Thursday's series opener against Arizona. «When you're not playing well, guys will show emotions. There's frustrations, but there's a fine line and yesterday went over that line.»
But the decision to let him go was not made by his actions on the field, it had to do with his post-game comments and terrible attitude toward his ball club. It didn't help that he stated this is who he is, and he wont apologize for that.
«I'm the way I am,» he said. «I'm not afraid to be me.»
