Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman had a terrible day on Sunday against the New York Yankees which turned even worse after he was ejected in the third inning.

After leaving the mound and continuously shouting at home base umpire Chris Conroy, Gausman took a misstep on the stairwell in the dugout and fell down the stairs which capped off his tough day.

Worst outing this season for Gausman

The game unraveled in the third inning when Gausman threw 53 pitches and surrendered six runs which put the game out of reach early as the Blue Jays lost 11-2.
Tough day at the office for Kevin Gausman, who gave up 6 runs in 2.2 innings against the Yankees before being ejected

Gausman's previous high for pitches in an inning had been 44 back when he was with Baltimore in 2017.
Over his last seven games, Gausman has gone 2-3 with an ERA of 4.50 through 34 innings pitched along with 17 earned runs on 24 hits and a WHIP of 1.03 and 28 strikeouts.
The Blue Jays themselves had a tough road trip as they were swept by the Houston Astros and lost two of their three games against the Yankees.
The team only managed to score nine runs over six games while allowing 33 earned runs by the opposition.
Kevin Gausman has a right to upset.

Blue Jays heading home for six game homestand

It's becoming clear that the Blue Jays are struggling to score runs on a consistent basis as the team's offence has dried up over the past couple of weeks.
They have returned home from their road trip and are prepared to play a six game homestand against the Boston Red Sox and the Cleveland Guardians.
The Blue Jays have called up Jonatan Clase to join the team against the Yankees and will get a chance to show if he could ignite some offence as he had shown great numbers with the Buffalo Bisons in Triple A.
The team had some success against the Red Sox the last time they played them and had good run production and hits which could return during this homestand.
In the meantime, management along with manager John Schneider we'll need to figure out a way to coax more offensive play with the players they have as a early season trade may be unlikely at this time.
The Blue Jays went 1-5 on their road trip and are now four games back against the New York Yankees for first place in the American League East.
Game one against the Red Sox will start on April 29th at 7:07 PM eastern.

Do you think the Blue Jays can get their offense on track without a trade to be made?
