The Toronto Blue Jays just announced a new signing as they have signed former Miami Marlins catcher Ali Sanchez to a minor league deal.

The Blue Jays have spent most of the off-season so far adding to their depth with multiple minor league signings but only signing Yimi Garcia to a major league as well as trading for Andres Gimenez.

MLB insider Shi Davidi just announced that the Blue Jays and Ali Sanchez have agreed to a minor league deal with a major league Spring Training invitation which will give him a shot at cracking the lineup.
The Blue Jays, continuing to build out their depth, are in agreement with catcher Ali Sanchez on a minor-league deal with an invite to spring training. The 27-year-old split time in the Marlins and Cubs systems last season, appearing in 31 big-league games with Miami.
Sanchez split his time between the Chicago Cubs and the Miami Marlins last season appearing in 31 major league games with the Marlins last seasons hitting 2 doubles, 0 homeruns and 4 RBIs.
Sanchez, 27, spent 2024 in the Miami Marlins and Chicago Cubs organizations. He appeared in 31 MLB games with Miami, posting a .167/.211/.190 slash line with two doubles. -Sportsnet

While Sanchez has signed a minor league deal, there is some serious potential for him to see some time in the Majors as he would have to beat out Tyler Heineman who has spent the majority of his career in a similar position as Sanchez.
It will be interesting to see who ends up being the Blue Jays catcher duo next season as Alejandro Kirk is clearly a lock which leaves the battle between Sanchez and Heineman.
Even if Sanchez ends up just being a minor league catcher, it is a great move for the Blue Jays who are in need of catcher depth.
