"The Blue Jays should have traded (Bassitt) at the deadline last season, but they opted to hold onto him since he was under contract through 2025. Now he's an expiring contract and Toronto could find much better options for the same price tag, especially in this off-season's loaded free agency class," Pressnell said./q>
Pressnell believes that Bassitt has some some trade value as of right now which will only go up once the top free agent pitchers sign deals which give the Blue Jays a bit of an upper hand.
The Blue Jays have also been clear on looking at bringing in a new starting pitcher through free agency such as Max Fried or Blake Snell which will likely cause them to trade Bassitt if they can get the signing done.
His value should go up after the top pitching free agents sign as well. If Toronto acquires a top free-agent arm, expect to see Bassitt traded away soon after." -Pressnell
