The Blue Jays could be interested in acquiring a third baseman that can bring offense to the table since the majority of their lineup struggled at the plate last season apart from Vladimir Guerrero.
Phillies place Alec Bohm on the trading block and the Blue Jays could look into acquiring him
Bohm is coming off a solid season in Philadelphia with 15 homeruns, 97 RBIs, a .280 batting average and .332 on base percentage which is why the Blue Jays going after him makes so much sense.
After debuting in 2020, the 28-year-old Bohm is coming off his best year in Philadelphia. The former first-round pick hit .280 with a .779 OPS, compiling a 115 wRC+ and 3.5 fWAR as the Phillies' everyday third baseman. Not known as a home run hitter, he hit 15 long balls and laced 44 doubles, driving in 97 runs en route to being named to his first All-Star team as the National League's starting third baseman. -Fisher
Bohm is only 28 years old and is coming off a great season which got him nominated to his first all-star game appearance which is why Ross Atkins seeing what the Phillies would want in return cannot hurt.
According to Passan, the Philadelphia Phillies' Alec Bohm is on the trade block. Making a trade for a relatively young but established player like Bohm would be a smart move for general manager Ross Atkins. -Fisher
With the Blue Jays looking for more offense this offseason, adding Bohm at third would be a cost-effective option - much more affordable than signing a free agent like Alex Bregman. Bohm's under team control for two more years before he becomes a free agent after the 2026 season. -Fisher
The interesting part of all this is what the Blue Jays will be giving back in return if a deal is made since they will have to give at least one top prospect.
