Despite rumors that the New York Mets seem to be out on free agent Pete Alonso, teammate Brandon Nimmo is still confident that a deal will get done.

The Blue Jays still seem to be the favorites to land Alonso but he is apparently holding out on signing a deal as he hopes that the Mets will raise their offer which currently sits at around $68-70 million.

Mets Brandon Nimmo still believes that New York will end up signing Pete Alonso

Many believe that the Mets are now out of the Pete Alonso sweepstakes after owner Steve Cohen mentioned that the contract negotiations have been the most complicated situation he has ever dealt with.
"I don't like the negotiations. I don't like what's been presented to us."

Steve Cohen talks about the Mets' negotiations with Pete Alonso and the possibility of the Mets moving forward without him:
Despite this update Alonso's teammate Brandon Nimmo sated in an interview that he is confident that a deal will still get done after what he has heard about the negotiations.
"From what I understand, there have been a lot of talks between them. I'm still hopeful that we'll sign him."

Brandon Nimmo was asked what is going through his mind with Pete Alonso's free agency:
Nimmo seems to be confident in the information he has heard regarding Alonso's negotiations but after hearing what Cohen had to say about the whole situation it is hard to believe that he would return to the Mets.
Alonso has also recently stated to the Blue Jays that he is ready for a fresh start and seems very interested in signing in Toronto even though there are rumors that he is hoping for an offer raise from the Mets.
After yesterday's press conference, the Blue Jays seem to be confident in the Alonso's situation despite what Nimmo had to say.
