The Toronto Blue Jays seem to be approaching a possible deal with free agent Anthony Santander but MLB insider Keegan Matheson announced on the MLB network the main issue their are having.
Keegan Matheson confirms the main issue between Anthony Santander and the Blue Jays
The Blue Jays seem to be the obvious favorite to land Santander this off-season but despite the two parties closing in on a deal, there still seems to be issues according to recent reports.
MLB insider Keegan Matheson stated during an interview on the MLB network yesterday that the main issue here seems to be that Santander is looking for a longer term on his contract, around 5-6 years instead of 4.
"[Anthony] Santander makes a ton of sense... the most logical answer at this point."

The good news is that the Blue Jays seem to be in the right area in terms of money according to Matheson as if they can stay in the $20 million per season range but raise the term, they will likely be able to close him.
Hopefully Ross Atkins is able to get a deal done sooner rather than later as the Blue Jays have missed out on a ton of free agents this off-season and could benefit from finally getting a deal done.
