Former Cincinnati Reds player Bubba Thompson has decided to play retire from baseball at play football as he joins the South Alabama Jaguars in division 1 NCAA football.

This is not the first time a baseball player has tried to transition in football as both Dion Sanders and Bo Jackson were both stars in the NFL but the difference is that they played both sports at the same time.

Bubba Thompson was a star QB in high school passing for 3,713 yards and 38 touchdowns while winning a state title during his senior year and is now ready to try his hand at football again.
News broke this morning that Thompson has decided to retire from baseball and has agreed to go back to college and will be playing for the University of South Alabama next season.
Now, at 26 years old, Thompson is returning to a sport he once excelled in-football. He was a three-star prospect coming out of McGill-Toolen High School in Mobile, Alabama, where he was ranked as the No. 37 overall recruit in the state. He had offers from several prominent schools, including Ole Miss, UCF, and Memphis. -Sullivan

Former MLB outfielder Bubba Thompson is joining South Alabama's football team as a walk-on.

Thompson was on the Reds Opening Day roster last season.
Thompson started the season of the Reds Opening Day roster last season but after struggling at the plate, he landed back in Double-A ball where he ended the his season before electing free agency at the end of the year.
In 17 games last season with the Reds, Thompson finished with 0 homeruns, 0 RBIs along with a .111 batting average and .111 on base percentage.
