Fans have been quite vocal about how the Blue Jays should get rid of manager John Schneider but this would be the third manager that Ross Atkins gets to fire.
Atkins is currently on his third manager since 2016 and firing Schneider would mean he once again has the power to find another manager for the Jays. While it makes sense to move on from Schneider since Charlie Montoya was fired in 2022 when the Jays were 46-42, it should not be Atkins in charge on finding his replacement.
The move that makes the most sense is getting rid of Atkins first and letting his replacement find the Blue Jays next manager as the team seems unable to perform with Schneider there.
Blue Jays fans:
When Charlie Montoya was fired in 2022, the Jays were 46-42 and holding a wild card spot.
The Jays are currently 35-42, 6.5 games out of a wild card spot, and on a 6 game losing streak.
1) How does it make sense to keep John Schneider?
2) Atkins should not
If Atkins get to replace Schneider and then they still end up firing him in the near future, the new GM will be stuck with his choice for the foreseeable future.
