The Toronto Blue Jays and Vladimir Guerrero Jr's relationship is far from good right now and has just taken another step back as it looks like they are headed for arbitration as they could not agree on a number for the 2025 season.
The Blue Jays and Vladimir Guerrero Jr are headed for arbitration as they could not agree on salary for 2025
The arbitration deadline passed at 1PM this afternoon and while the Blue Jays were able to settle with quite a few players, unfortunately Guerrero does not seem to be one of them.
The Blue Jays seem to be headed for arbitration with Guerrero for the second straight year which will not help their case of trying to get a contract extension deal done as they did not help their current relationship.
Heading to arbitration doesn't mean a contract extension isn't possible for Vladimir Guerrero Jr., but if the Blue Jays can't avoid arb for the second consecutive year, it's really hard to envision them keeping Vladdy around long term.
As we await news of Vladimir Guerrero Jr and his arbitration payout, keep this in mind...THIS is the extra year the Jays FO gained by sending him down to play 13 games in the minors in 2019 instead of breaking camp & starting the year with him.
According to insider Bob Nightengale, Guerrero is looking for $30 million for next season which the Blue Jays are clearly not alright with if not this would have been settled before the deadline.
The Blue Jays and Guerrero's relationship seems unfixable at this point and after this the chances on them getting an extension done are very slim even though there is still a tiny chance.
