As the MLB trade deadline approaches, rumors are swirling around the Toronto Blue Jays' closer, Jordan Romano.

According to multiple reports, the Baltimore Orioles are seriously considering making a move to acquire the 31-year-old right-hander to bolster their bullpen for a potential playoff push.
Romano, who has struggled to a 4.15 ERA and recorded just 6 saves this season, could provide the Orioles with a much-needed boost in the ninth inning. Baltimore's relief corps has been plagued by late-inning collapses, an area they desperately need to address if they hope to contend for a World Series title.
While the Blue Jays retain control over Romano through the 2025 season, the team's brutal performance in the AL East standings has fueled speculation that they may be open to moving assets to jumpstart their rebuild. With Toronto currently stuck in last place, general manager Ross Atkins may be forced to consider trading valuable pieces like Romano while their value remains high.
For the Orioles, acquiring a proven closer like Romano could be the missing piece in their championship puzzle. Despite their bullpen woes, Baltimore has remained in contention thanks to a potent offense and a strong starting rotation. Adding a reliable ninth-inning option could solidify their late-game strategy and provide a significant boost to their postseason aspirations.
