Trent Grisham, a career .216 hitter who hadn't hit above .200 in any season from 2022 to 2024, is off to a surprisingly very strong start this year, despite once again beginning the season in a backup outfielder role.

After being away from the Yankees this week for the birth of his first child, Grisham was reinstated to the active roster during Thursday's off day and is expected to return to the lineup for Friday night's series opener against the Blue Jays at Yankee Stadium.

Randy Miller from NJ.com writes that Grisham, 28, is off to a strong start this season, batting .320 with six home runs and 13 RBI in 20 games, 13 of which have been as the starting center fielder.
"During Grisham's absence, the Yankees recalled infielder prospect Jorbit Vivas from Triple-A. Vivas was optioned back to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after Wednesday's game without making his major-league debut. The 24-year-old Venezuela also was with the Yankees for one day last season." -Miller

Miller also writes that with Grisham on the paternity list for the Yankees' last three games, the team struggled offensively, managing only 11 runs over two of the three games in Cleveland.
The Blue Jays have struggled heavily this season to get hits, and it won't get any easier on Friday against a heavily favorite New York Yankees team.
The Blue Jays will look to get back into the win column after dropping their last 5 games on the road. They currently sit 3rd in the AL East, three games behind the division lead Yankees.
The first pitch is set for 7:05pm.
